On a micro level, they enhance one’s problem-solving skill set, position one for career success, lead to better decision-making, create better citizens, and promote curiosity. This course teaches students how to think, not what to think, by equipping them with the tools to critically analyze a subject, object, and theme.

This course is designed to give students opportunities to speak in front of their peers in a variety of ways, making them more comfortable with presenting in front of a group of people and helping them become more confident with public speaking. It also offers opportunities for students to be creative, practice their writing skills, and work on being active listeners. Students will receive respectful, helpful feedback and learn to provide feedback to their peers.

· Educate them about prejudice and discrimination, diversity and its relationship to bullying.

The course tasks students with the need to examine, evaluate, and deconstruct a variety of texts, including fiction, poetry, non-fiction, music, and essays. The knowledge gained will then be applied to crafting their own work within the genre of their choice. Students will be given a methodical framework they will use to assess the works that will serve to heighten and sharpen their overall analytical abilities. In a competitive world, students need these skills.
